WINEMAKING

Crafted from carefully selected vineyard blocks, Legion Chardonnay showcases the elegant balance between rich fruit expression and refined minerality.

Selectively harvested in the cool of night, the grapes undergo gentle pressing before fermenting in a combination of stainless steel and French oak barrels, where the wine develops its distinctive character through extended lees contact.

This versatile Chardonnay pairs beautifully with roasted chicken, lobster with drawn butter, or aged cheeses.

Whether enjoyed now or cellared for 3-5 years, Legion Chardonnay delivers the complexity and finesse that define exceptional winemaking.

TASTING NOTE

Pale straw in colour with a bright green hue. The nose is lifted and expressive, revealing white peach, nectarine and citrus blossom, layered with subtle notes of cashew, struck match and fine oak.

The palate is tightly structured yet generous, driven by vibrant Adelaide Hills acidity. Stone fruit and lemon curd flavours are complemented by a creamy mid-palate texture from extended lees contact and battonage, finishing long, poised and elegantly balanced.

A sophisticated, cool-climate Chardonnay that combines freshness, texture and finesse.

  • Is Battle of Battonage Chardonnay buttery or crisp?

It sits in between—textured and smooth from lees ageing, but still crisp and refreshing thanks to its cool-climate origin.

  • What does this Chardonnay taste like?

Expect citrus, stone fruit, and subtle creamy notes, with a clean, balanced finish that isn’t overly heavy.

  • What is the alcohol content of this Chardonnay?

It typically falls around 12.5%–13.5% ABV, offering a balanced body that isn’t too light or too heavy.

  • Why is Adelaide Hills ideal for this style of Chardonnay?

Adelaide Hills provides cooler temperatures and slower ripening, which helps retain acidity, freshness, and flavour precision.

  • Is this Chardonnay suitable for people who don’t like heavy oaky wines?

Yes—it focuses more on balance and finesse, so it won’t feel overly oaky or heavy.

  • Can I drink this wine now or should I age it?

It’s enjoyable now for its freshness and vibrancy, but can also develop more complexity with short-term ageing.

  • What is the ideal serving temperature for this Chardonnay?

Serve chilled at around 8–10°C to highlight both its freshness and creamy texture.

  • Does this wine need decanting?
