WINEMAKING

80-year-old Shiraz vines planted on black sandy soil, part of an ancient river bed.

Selectively picked in early morning hours at 14° Baume to preserve natural acidity and aromatic compounds. The fruit is gently destemmed and berry sorted. 7-day cold soak at 8°C , slowly fermented for 14 days in small open-top fermenters. Peak fermentation temperatures are held at 18°C with gentle pump overs with air twice daily.

Aging 36 months in French oak barrels (60% new, 40% neutral). Malolactic fermentation is completed naturally in the barrel.

Drinking beautifully now through 2045

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does Curtis Limited Series Shiraz taste like?

It shows intense dark fruit like blackberry and plum layered with spice, cocoa, and fine oak, finishing long with a rich, structured, and polished profile. The complexity builds as the wine opens.

  • What is the alcohol content of Limited Series Shiraz?

It typically sits around 14%–14.5% ABV, giving it a full-bodied and powerful style suited for premium red wine lovers.

  • Is Limited Series Shiraz dry or slightly sweet?

It is a dry wine, but the concentration of fruit gives a plush, rounded mouthfeel, making it feel smooth rather than sharp.

  • What makes this Shiraz “limited series”?

It’s produced in very small quantities using hand-selected fruit from standout vintages, which means higher quality control, rarity, and a more refined expression.

  • How is this different from standard Shiraz wines?

Compared to regular Shiraz, this wine offers greater depth, layered complexity, and a longer finish, thanks to its small-batch production and premium fruit selection.

  • Does this wine need decanting before serving?

Yes—decanting for 30–60 minutes helps soften tannins and unlock its full aromatic complexity.

  • Can I drink this wine now or should I cellar it?

You can enjoy it now with decanting, but it also has the structure to age and evolve over time, developing deeper complexity.

  • What is the ideal serving temperature for Limited Series Shiraz?

Serve at around 16–18°C. Slight cooling helps maintain balance and highlight its structure.
